Ana Peláez (-1) has secured the cut in the Fir Hills Se Ri Pak Championship, a tournament of the LPGA Tour that takes place at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in California. The golfer from Malaga reacted in time with two brilliant sparks to ensure her presence in the first regular tournament of the LPGA Tour she plays in the United States. The day could have been very uphill, but she once again showed that there are not many who can beat her in race and courage.

The first thing Ana did in the second round, after three consecutive pars, was a birdie. It seemed that she was starting the day well, but immediately afterwards she entered a very dark tunnel. She chained a bogey, a double bogey and one more bogey in the next four holes and put herself against the ropes. At that moment she was out of the cut with a total accumulated of +2 and a partial of +3 on the day.

She managed to stabilize her pulse with five consecutive pars and just as she entered the final stretch of the round, the last five holes, the brilliant sparks appeared. An eagle on the 14th and a birdie on the 16th helped her to turn the tables, return to the par result and not only guarantee the weekend, but also give herself a chance to do something important. The top 10, for example, is only three strokes away, a more than succulent goal.

Even, she should not be ruled out yet for the victory. After all, the lead is seven strokes away. It’s a considerable distance, but by no means insurmountable with 36 holes ahead. Precisely, the first position is occupied by Malia Nam (-8), an American golfer who is a rookie this season on the LPGA Tour. Big day for her, although if she looks in the rearview mirror her legs might tremble. They have put a price on her head…

One stroke behind are Ruoning Yin and Madelene Sagstrom, Grande winner and Solheim golfer. Two behind are Leona Maguire, Rose Zhang and Alison Lee, almost nothing. And to top off the picture, three strokes behind are Linn Grant, another winner and Solheim golfer and Lauren Hartlage. Nelly Korda is at -3, while Maude Aimee Leblanc, leader after the first day, ended up asking for time to pass the cut. She went from making 64 strokes on Thursday to 79 on Friday.

Finally, Carlota Ciganda (+2) missed the cut by one stroke. The Navarrese fought bravely, with an eagle on a par 4 four holes from the end, but a devastating final bogey on the 9th left her out of the weekend.
