Nordqvist again leaves Carlota and Julia out of Saturday’s foursomes

Carlota Ciganda and Julia López Ramírez will have to wait until the afternoon fourballs to try to return to the course in the second day of the Solheim Cup 2026. Anna Nordqvist has again left the two Spanish players out of Saturday morning’s foursomes at Bernardus Golf, repeating the decision she made at the start of the competition.

The Spanish players will rest after having played together in the final fourball on Friday, in which they earned a half point against Nelly Korda and Lauren Coughlin. A match of enormous tension that went to the 18th hole and which contributed to Europe‘s 2-2 tie in the afternoon session. The distribution of points was exactly the same as in the morning, so the Solheim goes into Saturday in a situation of complete parity: Europe 4 – United States 4.

Nordqvist keeps her foursomes structure practically intact, although she introduces an important change. Mimi Rhodes y Nastasia Nadaud move into the alternate-shot format after delivering the only European victory in Friday’s fourballs, a 2&1 against Allisen Corpuz and Auston Kim.

Three pairs continue and Rhodes-Nadaud receive the reward

The day will start at 7.40, Spanish peninsular time, with Maja Stark and Linn Grant against Allisen Corpuz and Nelly Korda. The Swedish pairing were one of Europe’s big stories on Friday. Stark and Grant defeated Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho 3&2 in the foursomes and Nordqvist has not hesitated to keep them together. They will now face a stern test against Corpuz and Korda, precisely the pair that defeated Charley Hull and Lottie Woad by a convincing 4&3 in the opening match of the Solheim.

The second duel, from 7.52, will also allow another of Europe‘s winning partnerships to repeat. Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit, victors by 2 up against Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan, will face Jennifer Kupcho and Rose Zhang.

The main European change comes at 8.04. Nordqvist entrusts Rhodes and Nadaud, who will play against Andrea Lee and Auston Kim. The two debutants responded in the best possible way to their Friday afternoon debut and the captain rewards them by pairing them together in the foursomes.

Hull and Woad get another opportunity

The final match again demonstrates Nordqvist‘s enormous confidence in Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. Despite the 4&3 defeat suffered in Friday’s foursomes against Korda and Corpuz, the English pairing will remain together.

Moreover, they come after adding a half point in the fourballs against Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin, a result that allowed them to finish the day with better momentum. From 8.16 they will face Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin.

The main consequence of these selections is that Ciganda and Julia are once again left out, as are Céline Boutier and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. The latter did play both sessions on Friday, although without scoring: they lost 3&2 in the foursomes and suffered a heavy 5&3 defeat against Megan Khang and Alison Lee in the fourballs.

Carlota and Julia, by contrast, arrive unbeaten on Saturday after the half point obtained in their only match. Nordqvist opts to rest them again in the alternate-shot format and everything points to them having chances to return in the afternoon fourballs.

With eight points still up for grabs on Saturday and a complete tie after the first day, the second morning of foursomes takes on enormous importance before the final pairs session of this Solheim.
