Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela has claimed his second victory on the Alps Tour this Saturday. A new success in just three outings that puts him on the brink of the HotelPlanner Tour, his main goal. At the end of the tournament, the Tenerife golfer from Golf Las Américas noted that “it has been a very tough few days with the wind during the first two rounds and I am very satisfied with how I have played. I would like to maintain this solid form. I am just one win away from earning automatic promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour. I need to keep working hard, and I am very happy with the progress I am making.”
The first thing the 22-year-old golfer did was to remember all those close to him. “I want to thank my family, my team, my coach, and of course, my psychologist. I believe we have been doing a great job together. Sometimes you put in a lot of effort and it doesn’t show on the course, so it feels good to finally display a level of play that I believed I was capable of reaching over the past few years, even when my results didn’t always show it,” he states.
It is also worth highlighting the second place of the Andalusian Rocco Repetto. The 22-year-old golfer secured that second place with a spectacular shot on the 18th hole. It was nothing less than an albatross. “The first round was really tough; the wind was blowing like crazy and it was just about surviving, trying to place the ball in good spots and making as many pars and birdies as possible while avoiding double bogeys. Today was easier with less wind. I started strong, playing well, but then lost a bit of rhythm halfway through the round. Luckily, I made a good comeback towards the end and finished 2-2 (birdie-albatross) to score a -7 today. I will play the entire season on the Alps Tour, competing in as many events as I can and I am focused on giving my best this season.”
After the Tunisian Golf Open, the Alps Tour order of merit ranking has Álvaro Hernández as the new leader with 14,794.88 points. Quentin Debove drops to second place with 10,026.00 points and in third place is Javier Barcos with 9,758.50 points. The Alps Tour players immediately move to Tabarka for the La Cigale Golf Open 2025 by the Alps Tour, scheduled from 25 to 27 March.
