El Alps Tour continues to bring joy to Spanish golf in 2025: six events, five victories for our players. The latest, achieved this Friday by Navarre’s Asier Aguirre at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni held in Como, northern Italy, came after a marathon third and final day.
Asier Aguirre’s success (-14 total) was built on an extraordinary second round of 61 strokes (-9) featuring nine birdies without a mistake. This result, combined with the 65 (-5) from the first round, placed the Spaniard at the top with a comfortable lead heading into the final day.
In this round, Asier Aguirre temporarily lost the lead to Italian Flavio Michetti, but regained it after a suspension of several hours caught the Spaniard midway through his round. After resuming, the Navarrese player once again showcased his best game to win for the first time on the Alps Tour.
To complete the strong Spanish – and Navarrese – performance, Pro Spain’s Javier Barcos finished third, tied with Italian Filippo Grossi and Frenchman Victor Veyret, all of them two strokes behind the winner.
This start of the season on the Alps Tour is marked by the dominance of Spanish players, who have claimed the titles in five of the six events. Álvaro Hernández – twice, Javier Barcos, Rocco Repetto, and now Asier Aguirre have been the winners of these events held in Egypt, Tunisia, and Italy.
This fabulous dominance is reflected, as it could not be otherwise, in the Alps Tour ranking. We have three Spaniards in the top three positions. Álvaro Hernández leads, followed by Rocco Repetto, and the podium is completed by Navarre’s Javier Barcos. Additionally, Asier Aguirre is sixth and Mario Galiano occupies the eighth place.
