The Alps Tour returns this week to Castile and León with the staging of the Alps de Las Castillas, a tournament that will be played from 9 to 11 July at Golf Lerma, one of the most recognised venues of a well-established event on the European development tour calendar
Golf Lerma will once again be the setting for the Alps de Las Castillas for the third time following the editions held in 2016 and 2024. The Burgos course also holds a prominent place in the tournament’s history, as it was the scene of triumphs by the Frenchman Víctor Pérez, currently a DP World Tour player and winner of three circuit tournaments, and the Spaniard Albert Boneta, winner of the edition played at Golf Lerma in 2024
Throughout its history, the championship has also visited other courses in Castile and León and Castile-La Mancha, becoming one of the Alps Tour’s most recognised competitions and a launch platform for numerous players who have progressed to circuits such as the HotelPlanner Tour and the DP World Tour
Designed by the renowned Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo, Golf Lerma blends naturally into the Castilian landscape. In fact, when he first visited the land where he would later build the course, Gancedo summed up its potential with a phrase that still forms part of the club’s identity today: “The course was already made; God made it”
Golf Lerma is a setting of wide Castilian horizons, native vegetation and an orography that seems designed by nature itself. The course, at just under 6,000 metres, combines scenic beauty and sporting challenge in an environment where each hole integrates harmoniously with the terrain
Across its 18 holes, holm oaks, savin and oak trees accompany the player on a course where it is not unusual to encounter hares or to see ducks and geese flying over the eight lakes and two streams that form part of the landscape. A unique setting that makes nature an integral part of the playing experience and that reflects the club’s commitment to conservation and respect for the surroundings

This commitment is part of Golf Lerma’s own environmental strategy. The club has developed a self-consumption project based on solar energy that covers a significant portion of its energy needs, contributing to a reduction in electrical consumption and the installation’s carbon footprint. In addition, it has several areas of solar panels dedicated to hot water generation, the electrical supply of various course infrastructures and the operation of the well water extraction systems, thus reinforcing a more efficient and sustainable management of resources
On the sporting front, the Alps de Las Castillas will bring together 144 players from 13 nationalities, reflecting the international character of the circuit and its role as a development platform for the future professionals of European golf. Many of the participants are seeking to consolidate their position in the season rankings at a decisive moment in the calendar, when the fight for promotion and for the top places on the Order of Merit enters its most demanding phase, since two of the five available places are already secured by the Italians Andrea Romano and Maxime Legros after their three victories this season, leaving players to compete for the remaining three places
The staging of the tournament also represents an important opportunity to continue promoting sports and tourism in the province of Burgos and in Castile and León, bringing professional golf closer to new audiences and generating economic activity in the area
With a course that already forms part of the history of the Alps de Las Castillas, a privileged natural setting and a key week within the Alps Tour season, Golf Lerma is preparing to welcome back some of the biggest prospects in European golf
