Andrea Romano is crowned champion of the Alps de Andalucía – Roquetas de Mar with 12 under par, achieving his first victory as a professional. The Italian surpassed Spaniard Javier Calles by one stroke, who signed a brilliant final round of 63 strokes and climbs to third place in the ranking. Romano enters the top 10 of the Order of Merit. Three more Spaniards, José Manuel Pardo, Alfonso Buendía, and Javier Barcos, finished within the top 10. Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela finished tied for 36th and maintains the lead in the ranking.
The ninth tournament of the Alps Tour season concludes. Andrea Romano is crowned winner of the Alps de Andalucía – Roquetas at the Club de Golf Playa Serena with a result of 12 under par total with two rounds of 64 and one of 70 strokes, one ahead of the runner-up, Spaniard Javier Calles.
This victory marks the first as a professional for the player from Rome, who had already been second twice in 2023 on the Alps Tour and whose best result this year was a tied sixth place at the Gosser Open. This year he finally completes the job in Roquetas de Mar. “I am very happy because I have spent three years on the golf course not very well, many problems and many things, and to play golf well, you have to have everything in order. Today the long game went well and the putt very well, I putted very well and that’s why I am very happy because normally the putt is not my best shot and that’s why I am very happy. With the bogey on 17 I hadn’t seen the leaderboard, I saw it on the 18th tee. On the second shot I had 90 meters to the flag and some pressure. When I saw the classification I thought: I can do it, I just have to make par on the last one, so great.” After the victory, Romano climbs 25 positions and sneaks into the top 10 of the ranking, he is tenth.

Javier Calles finally finished second with 11 under par, one stroke behind the winner, thanks to a round of 7 under and 63 strokes. The Madrid native came from winning the last circuit tournament in France, the Lacanau Open, and with this second place climbs five positions and is third in the season ranking. “Very happy, I went out with the mentality of attacking as much as possible within my strategy.” I played very solidly, made good putts and couldn’t ask for more. Today the key was to stick to my points on the green, the flags were hidden, so I had to be firm in my strategy and then take spin off the second shots to leave it close. Very happy with the year, since we started the season in Egypt I have only improved and learned and right now it is showing in the results. From here to the end of the season I will try to go tournament by tournament, go to all tournaments with the mentality of winning, of being at the top and adding what I have to add at the end of the season.”
The third place is shared by Spaniards José Manuel Pardo and Alfonso Buendía; the French Quentin Debove and Paul Margolis; and the leader after the first day, Italian Jacopo Vecchi at 9 under par.
Four Spaniards have finished the tournament within the top ten with Javier Barcos, a member of the Pro Spain Team of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, tied for eighth with 8 under.
Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela, tied for 36th with one under par total, maintains the first place in the Alps Tour ranking.
