Lars Keunen has been crowned champion of Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera 2026 after completing an outstanding performance over the three rounds played at Tecina Golf. The Dutch player carded a final round of 65 strokes (-6) to finish at a total of -17, winning by four shots over his nearest rivals.
Keunen arrived at the final day as sole leader, but with a very tight leaderboard. Up to around twenty players started the day separated by just four shots, which forced the Dutchman to maintain a high level of play from the very first moment.
The champion admitted he approached the final round calmly, although fully aware of how close the leaderboard was.
“I started the day fairly relaxed, having breakfast with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean from the hotel. I had read that about 20 players were separated by only four shots, so I knew I had to post a low round”
Despite an unremarkable start, Keunen kept his composure and took advantage of the opportunities the course offered him.
“The start was fine, though not spectacular. I three-putted for par at the 3rd, but as I had started similarly on the first two days I didn’t give it too much importance. I knew I still had room to recover”
The Dutchman avoided paying too much attention to the scoreboards for much of the round, focusing all his efforts on his own game.
“I tried not to look too much at the live scoring at the start. Around the 12th hole I checked the standings and saw I had a one-shot lead, although there were still several birdie opportunities ahead”
Keunen finished his performance with three birdies in the last five holes to end the tournament emphatically and lift the title in La Gomera.
“In the end I was quite relaxed. Having my girlfriend here has been a great support. Sometimes I can be very demanding of myself and she helped me maintain a positive attitude throughout the week”
The best national performance of the week came from Eduard Rousaud, who shared second place with a total of -13 after rounds of 69, 64 and 67 strokes.
“I have started more relaxed than I thought and have done a very good job mentally. It’s been a long time since I felt I had the game to fight for tournaments and now I feel I do again. The mental side is bringing me back to what I believe I am as a player. I feel I have huge potential and I believe in myself a lot.”
The Spaniard also highlighted his reaction in the closing holes after making two consecutive bogeys in the final stretch of the round.
“I’m very proud of how I finished. I reacted very well after the bogeys on 15 and 16. On 17 I holed a great putt and on 18 I told myself I could do it. In the end I was rewarded. Beyond the result, I take away the feelings because I think I’m heading in the right direction.”
The Spanish player finished tied with the Frenchman Paul Margolis, the Italian Mattia Comotti and another leading figure of the tournament, Marco Florioli, consolidating one of the standout performances of the season for Spanish golf on the Alps Tour.
Also in the spotlight was Víctor García Broto, who finished seventh with -12, while Alberto Domínguez, José Antonio Sintes and Alfonso Buendía finished tied in thirteenth place with -10.
Among the tournament’s notable names, Gran Canaria native José Antonio Sintes also stood out, finishing as the highest-ranked Canarian player with -10.
Sintes returned this week to compete in an event counting towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking and responded with a very solid performance in front of the local crowd. His spectacular second round of 64 strokes (-7), one of the best cards of the whole championship, allowed him to remain among the leading contenders throughout the week.
The 2026 edition of the Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera once again provided a great sporting spectacle at Tecina Golf, bringing together some of the most outstanding players of the Alps Tour and confirming, once again, the tournament’s role as one of the highlight events on the calendar.
After three days of high competitive level and a leaderboard marked by parity until the final day, Lars Keunen inscribed his name on the tournament’s roll of honour thanks to a solid and consistent performance that allowed him to lift the trophy in La Gomera.
