For the third consecutive time, the Gambito Golf Club Calatayud will host the LET Access Series – Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open. This new edition of the tournament not only stands out for its sporting level, but also for its work in promoting the sporting and tourist qualities of Calatayud and the province of Zaragoza.
In the Iberdrola Calatayud Ladies Open will participate 108 professional players from 24 different countries. It is relevant to mention that, currently, more than 60 players are on the waiting list, with the dream of accessing the tournament. However, the classification follows a rigorous order of merit of the European Circuit LET Access Series. Among the outstanding Spanish players who will compete are María Herráez, Clara Moyano and María Parra. In addition, it is important to highlight the participation of winners of recent tournaments, such as the Swedes Kajsa Arwefjall and Anna Magnusson, and the Dane Natacha Host. Kajsa Arwefjall, also leads the order of merit classification and has been named rookie of the year.
Especially, the local player María Velilla, 17 years old, who with a handicap of +0.5 has been trained at the Calatayud Golf School, representing a pride for the city.
With this initiative, the club continues to move towards its goal of consolidating Calatayud and the province of Zaragoza as references in the field of sporting excellence. To this end, it provides a completely renovated field and first-class facilities. In addition, the event has the backing and collaboration of the Calatayud City Council, the Government of Aragon, Aragon Tourism and the Region of Calatayud, which are among the main official sponsors of the tournament. These joint efforts seek to boost sports tourism in the region and give visibility to the cultural, historical and natural wealth of the city and its surroundings.
