Miguel Ángel Jiménez (-16) starts the year in the PGA Tour Champions with a great second place. The Mitsubishi Electric Championship held at Hualalai Golf Club has served as the starting gun for the American senior circuit, and the Spaniard has performed at a high level in the season’s opening event.
The golfer from Málaga flirted with victory after delivering a spectacular final card of 64 strokes, the best of the day at Hualalai, to climb positions and finish just two strokes short of claiming his fourteenth victory in the PGA Tour Champions. The first since 2022.
The Spaniard started with six birdies in the first nine holes (and a bogey), putting him in the fight for a title that ultimately went to South African Ernie Els (-18). The four-time Major champion triumphed in Hawaii with a final round of 66 strokes, marking his seventh victory on the circuit.
Joining the Spaniard on the podium were Germans Alex Cejka and Bernhard Langer. The latter is looking to secure his 19th consecutive season with at least one win on the senior circuit in a year where he has already announced he will play his last Masters at Augusta.
The next stop for the PGA Tour Champions will be the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco from 6th to 8th February.
