Miguel Ángel Jiménez (-3) was unable to take advantage of moving day and has lost his chances of competing for victory at the ISPS Handa Senior Open in Sunningdale. The golfer from Malaga delivered his second consecutive card of 70 strokes, level par, and has dropped four more positions in the standings, down to 22nd place, 10 strokes behind the leader, a world away with only 18 holes left to finish the tournament.
The ‘pisha’ started and ended the day in the best possible way, with a birdie on the 1st and another on the 5th, and two consecutive birdies on the 17th, with a spectacular long putt, and the 18th. But the middle part of his round was full of complications, with four bogeys and a double bogey. Although he made two more birdies, on the 9th and the 14th, they only served to avoid a round over par and prevent a more significant drop in the overall tournament standings.

The fight for the title in this senior major seems to be focused on three names: the Irishman Padraig Harrington (-13), leading alone with a two-stroke margin after repeating the same result as yesterday, 65 strokes with six birdies and a bogey; the American Justin Leonard (-11), who also shot 65 strokes for the second day in a row, in his case with one more birdie and bogey; and the Dane Thomas Bjorn (-10), who shot 67 today.

In fourth place, four players are tied, Clark Dennis (-8), Greg Chalmers (-8), Steven Alker (-8), and Kevin Sutherland (-8), although their five-stroke deficit to the leader makes a comeback attempt on Sunday at the Old Course in search of the Senior Open a really challenging mission. K.J. Choi (-2), who is defending the title, has been left without options after a tough 75 this Saturday.
