We are running out of adjectives to describe and encompass the career of Bernhard Langer (-18). He has done it again. The two-time Majors champion closes the season on the PGA Tour Champions with a victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge. The last tournament of the year has crowned Steven Alker (-17) as the best player of the season.
The German player has done it again. Just nine months ago, shortly before the Masters Tournament, he tore his Achilles tendon playing pickleball. An injury that is serious in the career of any professional athlete is even more so for a 66-year-old golfer. Less than five months later, he was competing again. A true competitive beast.
With a thirteen-metre birdie putt, Langer has extended a legendary streak. At the buzzer and in the last tournament of the season, the German increases to 18 the consecutive seasons winning at least one title on the Champions Tour. An incredible feat. In this 18-year stretch, he has achieved an astonishing 47 titles. Two and a half trophies per season.

“It’s incredible, there are no words to define what I feel,” Langer added. “Winning this great tournament after what I’ve been through and doing it 18 years in a row on the Tour is quite incredible. I am very grateful, very blessed. I want to thank the Lord for everything he has done for me.”
The unfortunate one of the week was Ernie Els, the South African champion arrived as the leader of the annual ranking, but was surpassed by Steven Alker who finished the tournament in second place and lifts the trophy that accredits him as the best player of the year.
