The basketball legend, Pau Gasol, will bring together a distinguished group of sports and business figures for the celebration of the Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational, an amateur golf tournament created with the aim of raising funds to prevent childhood obesity and to highlight one of the greatest public health challenges today, both globally and in Spain.
The event will take place from 19 to 22 June at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort and at the Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol Hotel, located in the municipalities of La Línea and San Roque.
Sports stars such as Rafa Nadal, Rudy Fernández, Álvaro Morata, Bernd Schuster, and Marcos Alonso along with a large group of professional golf players like Álvaro Quirós and Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño have already responded to Pau Gasol’s call and will participate in a very special event that will combine sport, solidarity, and networking.
Alongside these great athletes, numerous businesspeople and executives committed to the Gasol Foundation will compete in their effort to raise awareness of the issue of childhood obesity, which, along with being overweight, affects one in three children in Spain.
In the words of Pau Gasol, the tournament was created “with a clear purpose: to raise funds to continue driving our mission of preventing childhood obesity through the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. For more than a decade, at the Gasol Foundation, we have worked to improve the well-being of children and families in vulnerable situations, and this tournament will be a unique opportunity to raise awareness, gain support, and enjoy golf in an exceptional setting.”
The Gasol Foundation Golf Invitational will be played in teams over two days on the spectacular courses of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, Links course and Heathland course. The accommodation for participants at the Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol, as well as the attractive schedule of parallel activities organized, including a gala dinner with a charity auction, promise to make this tournament a benchmark for sport and solidarity.
The tournament has the strong institutional support of the municipalities of La Línea de la Concepción and San Roque.
