The daisy is being plucked, or at least one of them. Tiger Woods returns to competition this week at the Genesis Invitational and along with the big question of which brand will accompany him in the coming years, it was also in the air who would be the lucky one to carry his golf bag.

Well, as Golfweek has been able to find out, Tiger’s caddie this week will be the veteran Lance Bennett who has accompanied among others Matt Kuchar with whom he won The Players in 2012 and Sungjae Im. At this moment Bennett works alongside the great Belgian promise Adrien Dumont de Chassart. The Belgian and Tiger share an agency, and the fact that Adrien is not playing this week has facilitated Bennett’s availability. At the Hero World Challenge, Rob McNamara had been in charge of carrying Tiger’s clubs and it was not ruled out that this possibility could be repeated. However, the Cypress native has opted for the veteran American caddie, at least this week.

It is not clear that Lance will be the man who will accompany him permanently, but according to the same American media, it is most likely that they will also work together at The Players and at the Masters, although everything could change in the coming weeks.

Tiger returns to official competition ten months after his withdrawal at last year’s Masters. After testing himself at the Hero and being able to complete the four rounds successfully, he will seek at Riviera to continue gaining sensations and confidence. But of course, Tiger is Tiger, and he will take to the field with the conviction of doing something big. Haven’t you ever dreamed of seeing him win the Genesis for the first time?
