Charlie Woods wants to earn a spot in his hometown’s PGA Tour tournament. The son of Tiger will compete in Thursday’s pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. The youngest of the Woods will play at the Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, one of the four venues for these preliminaries.

Approximately 25 players and ties will pass this first cut to Monday’s qualifying tournament, from which the four players who will earn their spot for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches will emerge. Charlie will start his round at 7.39 local time on Thursday alongside Olin Browne Jr. and Ruaidhri McGee. Browne is the son of three-time tour winner Olin Browne.

The Cognizant Classic will take place from February 29 to March 3 at the Champion Course of the PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Charlie Woods, 15 years old, is no stranger to the golf world’s spotlight. He has competed in the last four editions of the PNC Championship alongside his father, and although they have not yet won, they achieved the runner-up position in the 2021 edition of the family tour tournament.

The youngest of the Woods also competed in the Notah Begay III National Junior Golf Championship last autumn, with his father as caddie during the 54 holes. Charlie Woods finished tied for 17th in the Boys 14-15 division, including a final round of 68; he qualified for that event with rounds of 71-66 in a September qualifier in Florida.

Charlie Woods will look to up the ante in the coming days, aiming for his first participation in an official PGA Tour tournament in southern Florida, where he resides.
