All eyes were on Tiger Woods at the tournament where, after several months away from competition due to his back problems and a new surgery review, he returned to compete. But the star of this Sunday at the PNC Championship, a father-son event on the PGA Tour that closes the elite golf year in the United States, was his son, Charlie.
The young Woods turned the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, upside down by achieving a tremendous hole-in-one on the par three of the 4th. A sensational shot that, after bouncing on the green, rolled slowly towards the cup, raising the decibels among the crowd and leaving Charlie with an expression of absolute disbelief as it was the first hole-in-one of his career in a top-level tournament.
His father, Tiger, congratulated him wholeheartedly with a loving ‘push’. And the young Charlie received congratulations from everyone present. His physical growth since last year is evident, but his level of play continues to grow season after season, ready to follow in his father’s footsteps. Today, for now, he already leaves the shot of the tournament in which he seeks victory.
It wasn’t the only hole-in-one of the day. All recognition also goes to Paddy Harrington, the son of the Irish champion who also achieved a hole-in-one on the 8th.
