This week the Arnold Palmer Invitational is taking place, one of the most important tournaments of the season on the PGA Tour. Included within the group of designated events (Signature Event), the event in Orlando, Florida, offers a prize fund of no less than 20 million dollars, in addition to 700 points valid for the FedEx Cup ranking.
This Arnold Palmer Invitational features a reduced field of 72 players and after the second round, a cut will be made that the top 50 and ties in the ranking will surpass, as well as all those within 10 strokes of the lead.
For the tournament winner, in addition to the trophy, the guarantee of securing the tour card for two more years and the usual exemptions, there is a reserved cheque worth four million dollars, 20% of the total tournament purse. The runner-up, if in solo position, will receive 2.2 million dollars, 11% of the total prizes. Meanwhile, for the third place, under the same conditions, the reward will be 1.4 million, 7%.
The 72 participants in this Arnold Palmer Invitational will receive some form of financial compensation based on their position. Thus, the last classified will receive at least 30,000 dollars.
