The THE PLAYERS Championship celebrates a new edition this week at the iconic TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach (Florida), one of the most important tournaments on the PGA Tour schedule. Considered the flagship championship of the American circuit, it once again features one of the largest prize purses in world golf.

Specifically, US$25 million will be up for grabs this week. Of that amount, the champion will take US$4.5 million, the largest individual cheque of the entire regular season of the Tour.

From there, the runner-up, provided they finish alone in second place, will pocket US$2.725 million, while the reward for third place will be US$1.725 million.

In this edition of the tournament, the prize distribution will extend to the top 90 finishers, all of whom will receive cash prizes according to their final position on the leaderboard. The last of them will receive a significant compensation: US$40,250.

As is customary at the tournament, a cut will be made after the first two rounds, with the top 65 players and ties making it through. From there, the weekend will decide the winner of one of the most prestigious titles on the PGA Tour calendar.
