A year ago, the Canadian Nick Taylor, with a sensational eagle on the fourth hole of the playoff, managed to beat Tommy Fleetwood (-9) to be a prophet in his land and take the victory in the RBC Canadian Open. This Sunday, the English golfer will seek to remove that thorn and turn the tournament of the Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ontario into the stage of his first triumph in the PGA Tour.
With a sensational career on the European tour and especially in the Ryder Cup, Tommy is finding it hard to open his title record on the American tour. This Saturday, with a sensational round of 64 strokes, the lowest result of the day in the tournament, he managed to climb almost 20 positions in the ranking and fully enter the fight for the victory. Although he will still have to keep climbing to beat another Brit whose end of ‘moving day’ has been simply apotheotic.

The Scotsman Robert MacIntyre (-14) stuck his ball on the tee of hole 14 tied in the ranking with Fleetwood, with nine under par. But with three consecutive birdies and an eagle on the par five of the 18, he managed to climb to the first place in the ranking, with four strokes ahead of the American Ben Griffin (-10), the Canadian Mackenzie Hughes (-10) and the Australian Ryan Fox (-10), who share the second place ahead of Tommy, Sam Burns (-9), Trace Crowe (-9) and Joel Dahmen (-9).

Another European, Rory McIlroy (-7), refused to give up the tournament after his discreet 72 yesterday. Today he played five under par, 65 strokes with which to give himself one last chance to rejoin the fight. Although for that he will have to complete a flawless Sunday, with many birdies, and that none of the 10 players he has ahead have their day. A complicated comeback to which Jorge Campillo (PAR) can now aspire after a Saturday to forget, with three birdies and five bogeys, in which he has lost almost 30 positions.
