“My right elbow has been bothering me a bit, so maybe I’ll get some treatment and make sure it’s okay for Augusta,” said McIlroy last night to Golf Channel.

Surprising statements from Rory McIlroy just two weeks before the first Major of the year kicks off on April 10th. The Northern Irishman signed three great final rounds in Houston, which is why his statements are perhaps more surprising.

“This Monday my coach Michael Bannon will come, we’ll do some work and make sure everything is in good shape for a week from now.”

It doesn’t seem to be anything serious that will prevent him from reaching 100%, but it does raise some alarms regarding tournament preparation. Rory arrives at Augusta in search of the coveted Grand Slam and to win another Major more than a decade later. It is expected that the elbow will not be a major inconvenience.
