Scottie Scheffler (-20) has won the THE PLAYERS Championship with a superb final round of 64 strokes and has become the first player in its fifty-year history to successfully defend the title won the previous year.

It was a memorable comeback to prevail in a finish as fascinating as it was dramatic by one stroke advantage over Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark and Xander Schauffele. All three had a putt to force the tie at hole 18 and the one who came closest to sinking it was Clark, whose ball made a painfully close miss.
