Scottie Scheffler had just made a bogey on the 9th hole to go to +2 for the day in the first round of the WM Phoenix Open. These are not usual scores for the World Number One, and his frustration was more than evident. Things were not going his way…
On the 10th, he missed the fairway to the right bunker and left himself a 95-metre shot to the green. It was a perfect shot. Right on line with the flag, it bounced a little before and rolled perfectly into the hole. Scheffler knew it was good, but he stopped watching it and didn’t know it had gone in until he heard the crowd. He didn’t even celebrate excessively, despite getting back to par for the course at that moment. The frustration was greater than the joy of having made such a great shot.
