Scottie Scheffler had a meeting with the media this Monday as part of the promotional events for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a tournament held in March where the current world Number One is the defending champion. Naturally, the main interest was in finding out how his hand was doing after the domestic accident that resulted in a very deep cut on his right hand and his bones in the hospital.
Scheffler provided more details about the accident. He said it happened while cooking ravioli the day before Christmas. At the same time, he assured that the recovery is following the expected timeline, so it seems likely that we will see him again at the AT&T Pebble Beach, although he neither confirmed nor ruled out his presence. “I feel good, everything went well with the surgery, the body feels quite good, but I am still making decisions about the schedule to follow. We should know in the next few days if I will play next week, but overall the recovery is going well. We’ll see, but I feel good,” he told the journalists invited to the media day of the tournament where he is the two-time defending champion.
Scheffler’s recovery is progressing. His fitness coach shared a video this weekend showing him doing some exercises with his right hand and wrist bandaged, somewhat like boxers before a fight. He will be better, but for now, he is wearing protection that makes playing golf seemingly difficult.
In this regard, Scottie is not doing any golf and only the part of the gym where he can more or less manage. “I took a couple of weeks off after the operation to make sure everything healed properly and that my hand was in good condition. The break has been a bit longer than expected and it was quite unusual for me not to be able to do much in the gym. I did some movement exercises with one hand, but not much, it didn’t make sense to work only the left side of my body. It was a good break. I had a good time relaxing here at home,” he noted.
