The start of the 2025 season for Scottie Scheffler will have to wait. After his absence at the Sentry due to a hand injury suffered on Christmas Day, the World Number One was hoping to return next week at the The American Express. That will not be the case.

Scheffler has announced that he will also not be participating in Palm Springs: “After consulting with my medical team, I have made the decision to withdraw from next week’s American Express to give my injury more time to heal,” Scheffler wrote on social media. Although not confirmed 100%, the Texan sets a date for his return. “I still have hopes of starting my 2025 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.”

Scheffler suffered a wound on his right hand on Christmas Day and had to undergo surgery to remove small glass fragments from the affected area. The original timetable for his return was 3-4 weeks, but it has since been delayed to over a month.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will begin on Thursday, 30 January, and is the second designated event of the PGA Tour season. For now, we have to wait to see the World Number One’s debut in this 2025.
