El PGA Tour launched a new financial incentive in 2019 to reward the best players of the regular season. It is a way to recognise those who perform consistently well throughout the year, regardless of what happens in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. It was considered very unfair that players could miss out on the lucrative end-of-season bonuses due to three bad weeks in the entire year. For the first two years, this bonus was called Wyndham Rewards, while from 2021 to 2025, it is named Comcast Business. A matter of sponsorship.

The distribution of this bonus has always been among the top 10 in the FedEx standings at the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship, traditionally the last tournament of the PGA Tour regular season. In the first three years (2019-21), 10 million dollars were distributed. In 2022 and 2023, it increased to 20, and in the last two years, no less than 40 million dollars have been offered. This year’s distribution of the Comcast Business is as follows:

1.- Scottie Scheffler – 8,000,000 dollars

2.- Rory McIlroy – 6,000,000

3.- Sepp Straka – 4,800,000

4.- Russell Henley – 4,400,000

5.- Justin Thomas – 4,000,000

6.- Ben Griffin – 3,400,000

7.- Harris English – 2,800,000

8.- J. J. Spaun – 2,400,000

9.- Tommy Fleetwood – 2,200,000

10.- Keegan Bradley – 2,000,000

Needless to say, the absolute king of this bonus is historically Scottie Scheffler. In fact, in the last four years, he has finished first three times and second once. The only one who managed to take the top spot from him since 2022 was Jon Rahm in 2023.

Thus, Scheffler has pocketed a total of 23 million dollars solely from this bonus. A curiosity to understand the magnitude of the figure. In the historical earnings ranking of the PGA Tour (where only the amounts obtained in each tournament are added, not the bonuses), the World Number One would occupy exactly the 100th position, just behind Camilo Villegas and ahead of Fred Couples. Only with this regular season end bonus.

Those 23 million dollars are more than what players like Couples, Zalatoris, JT Poston, Aberg, McNealy, O’Meara, Ben An, Tom Kim, Kitayama, Niemann, Ángel Cabrera, or MacIntyre have earned in their entire PGA Tour careers (again, without bonuses), to name just a few.

Since 2019, a total of 41 different players have finished the regular season among the top 10 in the ranking and, therefore, have had access to this bonus to a greater or lesser extent. Only Scheffler and McIlroy exceed 10 million dollars in this regard. In fact, Rory is by far the player who has finished in the top 10 the most times during this period. The Northern Irishman has done it six out of seven years. Scheffler has achieved it four times, but what a four, three times first and once second.

Here is the historical ranking with the 41 players who have managed to earn something through this bonus called Wyndham Rewards and now Comcast Business:

It is worth highlighting the sixth position that Jon Rahm still holds in this historical ranking, despite having been in LIV Golf for two years, the two years when this bonus distributed the most money. Similarly, it is evident that when Dustin Johnson left for the Saudi league in 2022, he was no longer at his best, as he only accumulated 700,000 dollars between 2019 and 2020.

All that we have told you so far is the distribution of the Comcast Business, not to be confused with the bonus that started to be distributed in 2025 also at the end of the regular season and is awarded by FedEx. Remember that until last year, 25 million dollars were awarded at the end of the Tour Championship, and from this season, it has been decided to divide that bonus into three: at the end of the regular season, the first-place finisher receives 10 million, after the BMW, they will receive 5, and after the Tour Championship, they will receive another 10. That is, adding the Comcast Business and the FedEx bonus, Scheffler received a cheque for 18 million dollars this Monday, which is added to the more than 19 million he has earned so far this year.
