The open secret became reality. This Monday was the day chosen by Tiger Woods to announce what everyone already knew, what had already leaked through various media outlets. The winner of 15 Majors, together with TaylorMade, is launching a new line of fully customised clothing under the name of Sun Day Red, in reference to the most famous ‘Sunday suit’ in golf history. You know, that combination of red and black that the Californian has always worn on the last days of the tournament and that practically seemed like Superman’s outfit.

From next May, six different products from the new brand will be on sale, in principle: two golf shirts, two hooded sweatshirts, a full-zip jacket and a zip-up jumper that is already causing quite a stir. In addition to the clothing, Tiger, in a small meeting with some journalists, showed some samples of golf shoes, gloves, wood covers, ball markers and caps. Although the Sun Day Red website is already active, the products will not be available until May 1st. Tiger will debut it this week at the Genesis Invitational.

The line is headed, of course, by Woods’ iconic red golf polo. It has three buttons, minimalist collar and the Sun Day Red logo on the chest. This will probably be the one Woods uses this season.

With a slightly bolder style, the second announced polo has an abstract design in black and grey that aims to resemble a tiger hunting its prey.

The Sun Day Red logo also has its own particular story. It has 15 stripes, in a nod to his victories in Majors. Of course, Tiger did not hesitate to clarify during the presentation that the logo would be redesigned in case of winning another Major.

The first rumours about the creation of this brand surfaced on social media in December, when it was revealed that TaylorMade had registered a brand with an abstract tiger logo and the name Sunday Red. When Woods’ break with Nike was announced on January 8th, another step was taken towards this outcome.

Red is considered a colour of power in Thailand, the country of origin of Tiger’s mother. This is what motivated him to also make it his favourite colour. For 27 years he wore all kinds of red Nike models on Sundays. The new Sun Day Red clothing line also includes shoes, but they will not yet be launched on the market.
