The PGA TOUR has already revealed the cards for its final season before the big revolution. The American circuit officially announced on Wednesday the schedule for the FedExCup 2027 through the TOUR Championship, a programme made up of 36 tournaments that will start in the week of 18-24 January and finish 23-29 August at East Lake.
After that will come the FedExCup Fall, but its tournaments, dates and eligibility criteria will be announced later. What is already set is the main layout of a season that will serve as a farewell to the PGA TOUR as we have known it for the past decades. In 2028 the PGA TOUR Championship Series and the PGA TOUR Challenger Series will come into operation, with separate schedules, points and categories.
The 2027 campaign will feature eight Signature events, the same as in 2026; four Majors; THE PLAYERS Championship; three Playoffs events and a completely new tournament, the Sompo Championship, which will be held at Silverado and occupy the penultimate week of the regular season
Goodbye to Hawaii: the PGA TOUR will start in California
The first big novelty appears straight away. The traditional Hawaiian season opener disappears from the schedule and the PGA TOUR will kick off the year with three consecutive weeks in California
The first appointment will be The American Express, 18-24 January, with its usual rotation around the Pete Dye Stadium Course, the Nicklaus Tournament Course and La Quinta Country Club
Next comes one of the most striking moves of the entire schedule. The Sentry will be played at Torrey Pines, on the North and South courses, as a full-field event with a final on Saturday 30 January. It will be the only event of the year to have its final round scheduled on a Saturday. Will we see Jon Rahm there again?
The third tournament will be the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the season’s first Signature Event. The West Coast swing will continue with the WM Phoenix Open and The Genesis Invitational at Riviera. The latter will share a week with another tournament still without a name, venue or confirmed course, which will award 300 FedExCup points
Cadillac, THE PLAYERS and Bay Hill, three consecutive weeks
The Florida swing will begin with the Cognizant Classic and give way to three consecutive high-profile events
The Cadillac Championship moves forward to the week of 1-7 March at the Blue Monster of Trump National Doral. It will be immediately followed by THE PLAYERS Championship, 8-14 March, and the Arnold Palmer Invitational, 15-21 March
This changes the usual order. Bay Hill will be played after THE PLAYERS, while the Cadillac leaves its 2026 position between the Zurich Classic and the Truist Championship to regain a date much closer to the one the former WGC of Doral occupied for years
The Valspar Championship also leaves the traditional Florida Swing and moves to May, specifically the week of 3-9 May, after THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and before the Truist Championship

Each will award 700 FedExCup points to the winner. The ranking will again include the top 50 from the previous season and the access routes during the year through the Aon Next 10 and the Aon Swing 5
The three tournaments organised by major figures — The Genesis Invitational of Tiger Woods, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial of Jack Nicklaus — will retain the cut after 36 holes for the top 50 and ties, as well as any player within ten strokes of the lead
Four extraordinary venues for the Majors
The 2027 Majors schedule brings together four courses of huge character
The Masters will be played 5-11 April at Augusta National. The PGA Championship will visit PGA Frisco, in Texas, for the first time, 17-23 May. The US Open will return to Pebble Beach 14-20 June and The Open Championship will be contested 12-18 July at the Old Course, St Andrews
The schedule also preserves the traditional European connection between the Genesis Scottish Open, 5-11 July at The Renaissance Club, and The Open the following week
During those two weeks alternative events will again be held in the United States and the Caribbean: the ISCO Championship will coincide with the Scottish Open and the Corales Puntacana Championship will be played at the same time as The Open
Silverado regains its tournament with the Sompo Championship
The only completely new competition will be the Sompo Championship, scheduled 26 July-1 August at the North Course of Silverado Resort, in Napa, California
Silverado annually hosted a PGA TOUR event between 2014 and 2025. It will return to the schedule as the penultimate stop of the regular season, although the relationship with Sompo will extend beyond that year
The agreement is multi-year and the tournament will become part of the PGA TOUR Championship Series in 2028, although it will then leave Silverado to move to a new venue and another market yet to be announced
The regular season will finish 2-8 August at Sedgefield Country Club. The historic Greensboro stop will have a new name: GO by Raymond James. The financial sponsor takes over an event that has also been selected to be part of the Championship Series from 2028
Liberty National hosts the BMW Championship
The Playoffs will keep their three current tournaments in 2027 and will begin 9-15 August with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind, Memphis
The BMW Championship will be played 16-22 August at Liberty National Golf Club, in Jersey City. The spectacular course facing Manhattan hosted the Presidents Cup in 2017 and last hosted a Playoffs event in 2019
The regular season will end 23-29 August with the TOUR Championship at East Lake. It will be the close of an era: from 2028 the finale will change radically in structure and rotate among different prestigious courses, although East Lake remains among the venues being considered for the future

The farewell schedule
The 2027 season will not simply be a transitional campaign. It will be the last year in which all players with category coexist under a single competitive structure
In 2028, the PGA TOUR will be split into two main paths. The Championship Series will gather the best players in approximately 23 or 24 tournaments — including THE PLAYERS, the Majors and team competitions — with minimum purses of 20 million dollars, fields close to 120 participants and no sponsor exemptions or reserve lists
The Challenger Series will have at least 20 tournaments, minimum purses of four million and will act as the main promotion route. There will be a formal promotion and relegation system between the two categories, as well as a final autumn opportunity for those who have not retained their place in the elite
The current FedExCup ending will also disappear. The Championship Series will finish with a 72-hole final for 90 players to determine the annual ranking winner and will cut the field to 32. Those 32 will then contest a two-week TOUR Championship, under match play format and on two different courses, with rotating venues among some of the world’s great courses
The PGA TOUR will unveil the full 2028 Championship Series schedule on 22 February 2027. Until then, the newly announced campaign remains the last recognisable route before the big leap
