The PGA Tour has announced today the schedule for the regular season and the playoffs of 2025, an agenda that includes a total of 39 events and marks the second year of the new competitive model of the circuit. A combination of full schedule and designated events that hopes to continue offering excitement and competitiveness until the final series in August in which the best players throughout the course will seek victory in the final overall classification.
The regular season, with 36 tournaments, includes the 51st edition of the THE PLAYERS, in March, the four majors, eight designated events, 18 ‘full-field’ tournaments and five additional events. The playoffs will be, as usual, three tournaments that will culminate with the TOUR Championship, before a fall schedule begins that will complete eligibility for the 2026 season and that the PGA Tour will officially announce later.
One of the novelties will be the Truits Championship, in May, which replaces the Wells Fargo and signs a contract for seven seasons. There is also an interesting change of dates that affects the Memorial, which this year was played the week before the US Open and returns to its usual position, two weeks before the major of the USGA. There will be tournaments throughout 18 states of the United States as well as in Mexico, Canada, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
The designated events, eight, will be the same as the past course:
- The Sentry (30th December-5th January);
- AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (27th January-2nd February);
- The Genesis Invitational (10-16 February);
- Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard (3-9 March);
- RBC Heritage (14-20 April);
- Truist Championship (5-11 May);
- The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday (26th May-1st June);
- Travelers Championship (16-22 June).
After The Sentry, eligibility for the remaining seven designated events (with a minimum of 72 players) includes the top 50 players from the FedExCup 2024 ranking. In addition, throughout the season other eligibility routes are offered that connect the entire PGA Tour calendar from start to finish. These paths include:
- 15 members who can play their entry through the Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5;
- Winners of the current season tournaments (excluding Additional Events);
- PGA Tour members among the top 30 in the World Golf Ranking;
- Four sponsor exemptions intended for PGA Tour members;
The Aon Next 10 represents the top 10 players, not exempt, from the FedEx Cup ranking, while the Aon Swing 5 includes the top five point winners of the FedEx Cup, not exempt, from a series of ‘full-field’ events prior to each designated tournament. In 2024, 48 different PGA Tour players who did not finish among the top 50 of the Eligibility Points List and FedEx Cup Playoffs of the previous year, took at least one start in a designated event through the Aon Next 10 or the Aon Swing 5.
