Twenty-three years later, the way of watching the PGA Tour on television in Spain is going to change. Since 2002, the North American circuit has been broadcast uninterrupted on Movistar. From 2025, this will no longer be the case. The streaming channel MAX will be responsible for broadcasting everything that happens in the PGA Tour in our country. A shake-up of great proportions.

Since 2019, the Discovery group (owner of MAX and Eurosport, among others) has held the television rights to the PGA Tour. For the past five seasons, they had reached a sublicensing agreement whereby Movistar retained the broadcasting rights. However, in recent weeks, the renewal agreement has not materialised, and MAX has decided to broadcast the tournaments on its own platform.

The debut of the PGA Tour on MAX will be this Thursday with the start of the The Sentry Tournament. The tournament held in Maui will be the starting signal. This summer, golf could already be seen on the North American platform as they held the rights to the Olympic Games.

Movistar has not yet issued an official statement announcing any changes or whether this will lead to any restructuring of the schedule, such as broadcasting the LPGA live or focusing more resources on both LIV Golf and the Asian Tour.

It is also unknown if there will be any changes regarding the broadcast of the Ryder Cup or the Majors. Everything suggests that everything will remain as it was until now.
