Tiger Woods and his son Charlie (-19) managed to redeem themselves this Sunday at the Ritz Carlton in Florida. A scorecard of 61 strokes on the second and final day of the PNC Championship, the second-best result of the day, and a surge up the leaderboard to finish in fifth place. They left us wanting more. Eleven under par, with nine birdies and an eagle in playing conditions more difficult than yesterday due to the wind.
Tiger seemed a bit more in gear, especially with the wedges. He hit some very good shots, although he still needs to improve in distance control, although today with the wind it was not the easiest day. He was also much more solid with the putt, sinking many and very good ones from three meters down.

There is a desire to see Woods again. The truth is that he has everything to be able to win a tournament again. It’s not at all far-fetched. He’s very good at distance, his shots to the green will be honed, he also needs more touch with his short game and on the greens he will always end up appearing. Now yes, the physique accompanies him. Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the umpteenth return of Tiger.

There is also a desire to follow Charlie’s evolution. The boy has a sensational swing and hits some stratospheric shots. He needs more continuity, more regularity, but he is only 14 years old. There is no doubt that he has something special. Today, for example, he left his mark again with a chip in from off the green on hole 9 for birdie. The celebration was pure Woods. Tiger couldn’t stop laughing, while his son was throwing fists in the air.

It seemed like the Woods’ party, but if there is someone who doesn’t understand about parties and exhibitions, it’s Bernhard Langer. Compete, compete and compete. It’s the only verb he knows how to conjugate when he’s on a golf course. Today, along with his son Jason, he delivered a fabulous scorecard of 59 strokes to win with a total of -26. The Langers overtook everyone. It’s not surprising that the German achieved his fifth title in this tournament on Sunday, two with his son Stefan and three with Jason. He has matched the record of Raymond Floyd, who also has five victories in this tournament and also achieved them with two different sons.

Jason’s putter was a real spectacle. And when he wasn’t there, his father appeared perfect in the rear, one of the greatest life insurances of world golf. They won with a two-stroke lead over the Duvals and three over the Singhs, this year’s defending champions.
The PNC Championship ended and the golfing year ended. In addition to the Woods and the Langers, the tournament always leaves very nice images of fathers and sons, like Nelly Korda with her father, the eagle from the bunker of Justin Thomas on the 18th, how much fun Ally, Annika Sorenstam’s left-handed son has, and how the great Swedish champion dotes on him.
