Tiger Woods rekindles hope for a new return to competition. The 15-time major winner, who broke his left Achilles tendon last March and missed all the season’s Majors, was recorded this week training at the practice range of Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City.
A video posted on the instagram account of TGRLiveEvents showed the 49-year-old American icon hitting balls, the first time he has been seen playing in public since the serious injury that derailed all his plans.

Woods’ reappearance has generated enormous anticipation in the golf world given that the recovery period for an Achilles rupture usually ranges from six to twelve months. His last official participation in a PGA Tour tournament was at the Open Championship in 2024, where he failed to make the cut. He also played alongside his son Charlie in the PNC Championship, losing in a playoff, and participated in some matches of the TGL indoor league earlier this year.
The calendar poses several questions for the Tiger. Woods is the host of the Hero World Challenge in December, although just a few weeks later the PNC Championship is held again, a tournament where a buggy can be used for transportation. For now, there is no confirmation that he will compete in either of them, but the images released reignite the hope that the Californian can add another chapter to his inexhaustible career of sporting comebacks.
