The traffic accident he suffered last Friday in Florida, which even led to him being detained and spending a few hours in prison, looks set to become a turning point in the career and life of Tiger Woods. At least that is what the Californian has hinted at in a press release published this evening on his social media profiles, in which he confirms he will step away for a while to focus on his health.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today”, begins the 15-time major winner. “I am going to step away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order form me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery”, he adds, meaning his participation next week in the Masters de Augusta is ruled out.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused state, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time”, Woods concludes, and from what his statement indicates he also does not appear likely to be at Augusta National for the tournament’s traditional Cena de Campeones of the Green Jacket.
