Tiger Woods announced this Friday through social media that he has undergone a new operation on his back. Specifically, he has undergone a microdecompression surgery of the lumbar area due to a nerve pinching in the lower part of the back. The procedure was performed by Dr. Sheeraz Qureshi, from the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The operation was carried out to alleviate the back spasms and pain that Tiger has been suffering throughout 2024. Let’s remember that this year he has played six tournaments in the PGA Tour. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational halfway through the second round due to illness, finished in 60th place in the Masters and did not make the cut in the PGA Championship, the US Open and the British Open.

Woods has indicated in the statement that he hopes this surgery will allow him to return to normal life activities, including golf. What he does not specify is when he will be able to play a new tournament. His idea, obviously, is to be ready to play the PNC Championship in December alongside his son Charlie, as he has been doing in recent years. Tiger Woods goes once again through the operating room.
