The PGA TOUR announced this Friday that the Genesis Invitational will finally be held at the South course of Torrey Pines from 13 to 16 February. Thus, the magnificent public course in San Diego will host two PGA Tour tournaments in less than a month, as it is currently hosting the Farmers Insurance Open.

This decision was made public shortly after it was confirmed that Riviera Country Club will not be the venue for the tournament this year, as has traditionally been the case. The sudden turn of events occurred after the intense fires that have devastated a large part of Los Angeles, especially around Riviera. It made little sense, when many people have lost their homes, to hold a $20 million tournament in the area just a month later.

As you know, Tiger Woods is the host of this tournament. The new venue, Torrey Pines, has a very close relationship with his career, as he won the Farmers there seven times and the US Open (2008) once, the penultimate Major of his career. The Genesis Invitational is expected to return to Riviera Country Club in 2026.

The 2025 edition of the Genesis Invitational will include a series of aid initiatives related to Los Angeles, the details of which will be announced soon.

PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan: “As we have seen over the past two weeks, sports can be great fun, but they can also bring people together for a common cause. Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need to continue supporting recovery is the goal our teams are pursuing with the staging of the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines. Our thanks to Tiger Woods, TGR Live and Genesis for their leadership in these efforts. We are grateful to Farmers Insurance®, Mayor Todd Gloria, the city of San Diego, and the Century Club for extending the invitation to move The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines.”

Tiger Woods: “We are very grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the Genesis Invitational 2025, and to everyone who has reached out to support the tournament. While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we will play on another great golf course and use the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”

José Muñoz, President and Global CEO of Genesis: “It has been heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles. Genesis is proud to call Southern California its home, with its North American headquarters, design studios, and several partners located in the area. Many members of our community have been affected by this catastrophe, and we hope to use the tournament’s broad platform to drive meaningful support for aid and recovery.”
