Max Homa will take his first tee shot of the PGA Tour season this Thursday at 22:27 peninsular time. He will do so at the Sentry Tournament sharing the round with Tony Finau and Sahith Theegala in the penultimate match of the day.
When he tees off on the first hole of the Kapalua Plantation Course, two things will catch their attention.
The first is that the Californian is debuting both a new set of clubs and shoes. After more than ten years playing with Titleist, Max Homa has made a change and signed a major contract. Cobra Puma Golf has announced the signing of the five-time PGA Tour winner with a multi-year sponsorship deal to play with Cobra clubs and wear Puma shoes. He will be the brand’s major image alongside Rickie Fowler

It is equipment that is at the forefront of technology and the most comfortable shoes in the game are a great combination for any player,” Homa expressed in a statement. “Cobra Puma Golf is undoubtedly a natural fit for my game, style, and personality, and I am looking forward to a long-term relationship that will be fun and exciting in the coming years.”
The agreement has been a complete surprise as Homa had been with Titleist and Footjoy since turning professional in 2013 and had played with those clubs since his college days.
After a year of ups and downs, where for the first time since 2020 he failed to taste victory and fell to 41st in the World Ranking, he has sought to revamp his game. A year ago, he was a world top ten.
The second major novelty, although in this case temporary and momentary, is that Michael Greller, the caddie of Jordan Spieth for many years, will replace Max Homa at the first stop of the 2025 PGA Tour season. Homa’s usual caddie, Joe Greiner, is unavailable this week, although he is expected to return to the bag in two weeks.
