The 124th edition of the US Open, which is being held this week at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, will finally feature four representatives of Spanish golf. Jon Rahm, David Puig and Eugenio López Chacarra, who were already confirmed, have been joined at the last minute by Sergio García, who, along with amateur Brendan Valdés, Otto Black and Maxwell Moldovan, has been one of the four reserves from the preliminaries who has finally achieved exemption.

The golfer from Borriol will thus play his 25th consecutive US Open, which places him in 10th place in the historical classification of consecutive participations in the tournament. He was first substitute in the Dallas preliminary and has 36 titles to his name, including the 2017 Augusta Masters or the 2008 THE PLAYERS. His best result in a US Open was a tied third place, also at Pinehurst.

The curious circumstance arises that the four Spanish players who will compete this week in the third major of the season compete in LIV Golf. Two more players have managed to secure a place in the tournament at the last minute, Australian Adam Scott and Scotsman Robert MacIntyre, thus completing the roster of 156 golfers who will fight for the title from Thursday to Sunday on the famous North Carolina course.
