San Sebastián is gearing up for a historic week of international golf. In early September, the Real Nuevo Club de San Sebastián, Basozábal, will host the second edition of the European Legends Cup, a prestigious tournament on the Legends Tour sponsored by José María Olazábal, featuring some of the most iconic players from this circuit who are part of golf’s history.
In the final stretch of the season, some of the year’s best players are eager not to miss the first opportunity to compete in the first international tournament held at Chema‘s home, on a course designed by him that reflects all his experience and legacy in this sport.
Among the protagonists is the number 1 in the ranking, Australian Scott Hend, determined to consolidate his position achieved with his victory in Barbados. Hend started the season strong, with a 2nd place in Marbella, and from there he has achieved 6 top 10 finishes, including a victory, the 5th in the Legends Tour, adding to 3 in his years on the DP World Tour.
Alongside him, attending the European Legends Cup by José María Olazábal will be Europe’s number 3, South African Keith Horne, winner in Beijing; number 4, British Peter Baker, winner in Costa Navarino; number 5, the Brit who triumphed in the first tournament of the season, the Staysure Marbella Legends, Simon Griffiths; number 6, South African James Kingston who won in Ireland, as well as the season’s other winner, Australian Mark Brown, who triumphed in Switzerland.
No less than 6 winners of the Legends Tour this season are coming to grace a tournament that will be held for the first time in the birthplace of the great José María Olazábal, but they won’t be the only stars. The European Legends Cup by José María Olazábal will also feature golfers who have won some of the most important tournaments in golf history, including the DP World Tour, Majors, and memorable victories in the Ryder Cup, ensuring a top-tier sporting spectacle.
For three days, from 5th to 7th September, the public will be able to enjoy top-level golf, with close access to the players, autograph signings, and the chance to explore a course that breathes history and sporting excellence. It is a historic event to enjoy the talent of golf legends, with free entry, designed for all golf enthusiasts, young and old, and those who want to learn more about this sport, to experience a day full of excitement. It will be an opportunity to experience golf like never before, enjoying the legends of golf at Basozábal.
