PGA Ocean’s 4 will host, from 15 to 18 October, the 60 players who will contest the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank, the season-ending event of the 2026 PGA TOUR Americas.
The championship, which will be held at Playa Nueva Romana, will distribute a purse of $225,000 and award 600 points to the winner, 100 more than in earlier tournaments of the season. These points could produce decisive changes in the circuit’s final standings and in the allocation of the ten Korn Ferry Tour memberships for 2027.
Latin American talent will be represented, among others, by Argentine Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, Mexicans Omar Morales and José de Jesús Rodríguez, and Costa Ricans Paul Chaplet and Luis Gagne.
The field will also include players from the United States, Canada, England, Norway, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Germany and Sweden, as well as several winners from the season. Among them stands out Canadian Étienne Papineau, winner of two tournaments during the 2026 campaign and one of the leading candidates to finish the year inside the top ten of the points list.
The competition will thus bring together some of the year’s best-performing players in a decisive event for their professional careers. After the conclusion of the championship, the top ten in the final standings of the PGA TOUR Americas will obtain the membership of the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2027 season.
“Hosting the PGA TOUR Americas season finale confirms PGA Ocean’s 4’s ability to stage top-level international competitions and reinforces the position of the Dominican Republic as a golf destination. Furthermore, it allows us to connect two strategic Piñero assets: PGA Ocean’s 4, the season-closing venue, and PGA Riviera Maya, which will host the Tulum Championship of the Korn Ferry Tour in 2027. It is a true honour to contribute to the growth of professional golf and to the international projection of both destinations”, said Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce, Global Golf Director of the division of Real Estate & Golf de Piñero.
The tournament will also allow the Dominican public to follow closely some of the players expected to stand out in the coming seasons of professional golf.
An internationally recognised venue
PGA Ocean’s 4 is the only course in the Dominican Republic affiliated to the PGA of America and hosts the organisation’s first PGA Golf Academy in the country. It is located within the residential community Playa Nueva Romana and features 27 holes, four of them located by the Caribbean Sea.
In 2025 it was recognised as Dominican Republic’s Best Golf Course by the World Golf Awards, consolidating its position among the leading golf courses of the Caribbean.
The complex offers a championship course, an illuminated executive course and an academy focused on the coaching and development of players of different levels.
As part of its strategy to continue raising the quality of the experience and attract international competitions, PGA Ocean’s 4 is progressing with a redesign project alongside the firm Robert Trent Jones II. During 2026, work is focused mainly on renovating the bunkers, while the next phase of the project is scheduled for 2027.
The intervention will reinforce the four distinct environments of the course —Parkland, Desert, Oceanside and Links— and will especially enhance the four holes located directly on the coastal strip, with views of the Caribbean Sea.
The staging of the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank is part of the strategy of the division Real Estate & Golf de Piñero p to attract international events, boost sports tourism and consolidate golf as an element of differentiation and value generation for its destinations.
