En los NIN9RS Games the rule of the Xorkyo Frogs prevails at the start of this season. Second tournament of the season and second victory. The team captained by Mario Galiano, still without the captain in attendance as he is in Italy playing the Alps Tour, has prevailed convincingly in the Campeonato de Madrid de Profesionales and extends its lead in the standings. Another statement. It seems they play as if wearing a Paris Saint Germain shirt.
The bleakest forecasts did not come true. Crossed fingers did the trick. The orange warning passed by the Club de Golf la Dehesa and the third round was able to be played normally. That is what everyone wanted. If the tournament was over three rounds, play the 54 holes and let the best win. And, again, as happened at Izki Golf in the Campeonato de España de Parejas, the best was the team of the Xorkyo Frogs, formed this week in the capital by Borja Virto, Borja Martín, Javier Sainz, Asier Aguirre and Jacobo Pastor. They won with a total of 34 points, ten more than Atlas Lleida and thirteen more than Dacar Iron Masters. No contest.
As things stand, the overall standings are completely dominated by the Xorkyo Frogs. After two tournaments they have 66 points, almost double the second-placed and reigning champions, Atlas Lleida (35), while third place is held by the Valencia Vikings (30), with just one point advantage over the Dacar Iron Masters (29). Xorkyo have started very strongly, but everyone is aware that there is still a lot to play for between now and the end of the season.
Remember that the NIN9RS Games standings are updated according to the results achieved in each of the events of the TUMI PGA Spain Tour, circuit of the PGA de España. Six more tournaments remain before the grand final at Isla Canela.
Obviously, the cornerstone of Xorkyo’s victory was Borja Virto (-15), the tournament champion. The Navarrese player carded a 66 in Wednesday’s third round which, combined with the 65 he shot yesterday, proved decisive in securing the triumph. The leaderboard, however, was very tight. Liam Murray, leader after the second round, and Emilio Cuartero finished one stroke behind Virto. In fourth place, three strokes back, were Alex Esmatges and Juan Salama.
The next PGA de España tournament, counting towards the NIN9RS Games, will be played from 22 to 24 May in Ciudad Real. We will see there whether Xorkyo’s dominance continues or if there is a change of trend. For now, they have claimed the first two €5,000 bonuses as winners. Also, this week at La Dehesa they were close to taking the five-point bonus if the five players selected for the tournament made the cut. Four out of five did. The Madrid Warriors also fell one player short of completing a five-for-five at the cut
