Adela Cernousek (-12) is the champion of the American university year. The Frenchwoman, teammate of Blanca and Cayetana Fernández, thus becomes the first player in the history of Texas A&M to win this coveted title. Cernousek has undoubtedly been the best player during the 72 holes that defined the winner of the individual section and today she has perfectly managed the six-stroke lead she had over Lottie Woad (-9). A round of par was more than enough to win by three strokes difference to the Englishwoman.
The champion is Cernousek, but the Armada is signing an impressive choral performance in these Nationals. Three Spaniards have finished in the top ten of the American university year: Paula Martín (-6), Julia Lopez (-2) and Carla Tejedo (-1). Among the top nine players of the year, there is no country with greater representation: three Spaniards, two Americans, one Colombian, one French, one English and one Irish. Spanish power. After the 72 holes of stroke play the eight best universities in the table have qualified for the playoffs that will fight for the title in match play format. Among the eight universities we find four of ours who will seek to emulate the triumph of Carolina López Chacarra who last year won the title with Wake Forest. The Madrid native, by the way, will not be able to fight for the title this year as they have finished ninth just two strokes from the eighth place that gave access to the quarterfinals.
