Tiger Woods has been seen again with a golf club in his hands. Six months after the car crash he suffered in Florida and after announcing he was stepping away temporarily from public life to focus on his health, the winner of 15 majors has reappeared on a practice range. And not just hitting balls. Also delivering a line that inevitably fuels expectations about his future: “I can hit practically any shot”.
The scene took place this Tuesday at Liberty National Golf Club, in New Jersey, during the Nexus Cup, the amateur event organised by Woods whose proceeds go to his TGR Foundation. Footage released by TGR Live Events shows Tigre on the practice range hitting several shots in front of attendees. The PGA Tour itself quickly picked up the video, highlighting Woods’s return to the range.

During the clinic held as part of the event, Woods was asked about the current state of his game. His answer was as brief as it was striking: “I can hit practically any shot”. A statement particularly significant after the numerous physical problems that have marked the last years of his career and the new hiatus opened by the accident he suffered last March.
That said, there is currently no confirmation that Tiger is preparing his return to competition. The American, who is already 50 years old, has not played an official tournament since 2024. His last appearance in a major was at the Open Championship at Royal Troon in July that year, where he failed to make the cut. He subsequently suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in March 2025 and again underwent surgery on his back in October.
His reappearance comes almost six months after the crash on 27 March in Florida, when the Land Rover he was driving ended up overturning. The incident led to legal proceedings that were resolved earlier this month after Woods did not contest a charge of reckless driving. As part of the agreement, he accepted a five-year suspension of his driving licence and a fine of $1,000.
After the crash, Tiger announced he would step away for a time to receive treatment and focus on his health. Since then he had barely been seen publicly involved with golf. That is why the images from Liberty National are especially meaningful: it is still too early to talk about a return, but Tiger Woods is hitting balls again, shaping shots again and, in his own words, feels he can hit practically any of them.
