The exclusive golf club of Seminole, in Juno Beach, Florida, will host its traditional and prestigious annual ProAm this Monday, where several of the world’s best players meet. It is the Major of the format that brings together professionals and amateurs and, most curiously of all, none of the golfers get paid to play.
Tiger Woods will be one of the participants. The winner of 15 Majors, who will not be at the Arnold Palmer Invitational next week, has accepted the invitation to play for the first time. Basically, to play this ProAm you must be invited by a Seminole member. In this case, Woods is going to play with Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America and former head of Deutsche Bank in the United States.
Tiger’s presence is excellent news regarding his health status. Remember that he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational during the second round due to a health problem that was not officially clarified, although it was hinted that it was viral in origin. Woods will take advantage of the ProAm to fine-tune his golf thinking about the THE PLAYERS Championship, a tournament that is played after the Arnold Palmer and where it seems that Tiger could be part of, although it is not confirmed either.
In addition to Tiger, players such as Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Collin Morikawa, Ernie Els, Cameron Young, Nick Dunlap, Matthieu Pavon or Sungjae Im, to name just a few of the most prominent names, will play the Seminole’s ProAm. Some professionals humorously claimed that the field was better than some Majors.
Jorge Campillo will also be at this ProAm, who has been invited by Spider Miller, a totem of Indiana University and a member of Seminole. Campillo does not play with Miller because he had already committed to Doug Ghim. His partner will be David Brown, a friend of Spider.
A total of 90 pairs participate and the starts are divided between morning and afternoon. Campillo will start at 9:08 in the morning, local time.
