Tiger Woods (+7) has suffered an ordeal on the second day of the PGA Championship, especially in his first four holes. There he ruined any chance of making the cut. He signed a seven over par from the 2nd to the 4th, with two triple bogeys on holes 2 and 4 and a bogey on the 3rd. “These are mistakes you can’t afford in any tournament, let alone the Majors,” he lamented at the end of his round and signing the card.

In both cases, his short game and, especially, the sand traps have executed him. He needed two shots to get it around the green in both triples. Tiger explained that he was wrong in assessing the consistency of the ground. “There was very little sand and I miscalculated it. From there it was very difficult, but I didn’t stop fighting. That’s how I understand the sport. I knew I was going to make many, but I’m going to give it my all until the last hole,” he assured. It’s not just a way of speaking. In the last 14 holes, the Cypress player signed a notable one under par, although it was not enough to avoid finishing far from the cut. No options.

He made 77 strokes, a very high result, just like the 82 and 77 he signed over the weekend at the Masters of Augusta. However, Woods sent a message to those who are in a hurry to bury him. It seems that he is not very willing to accept that fate. “I have no doubt that my game is going to improve. Physically I am getting stronger and all I need is to compete more. I trust that with my training sessions at home I can be ready for the US Open in Pinehurst. I just need to improve the ability to make a result,” he pointed out.

Tiger does not regret having joined the board of the PGA Tour, even though he admits that it takes a lot of time. “You just have to ask everyone who is in there. You sleep little, there are many calls at untimely hours, zoom calls that have to be made, but I don’t mind. I still have the pride intact to improve my golf and compete well again, as well as the ability and desire to do well on the PGA Tour board and in my companies. I can do all three things well. I want to make an impact with my decisions on the PGA Tour, it is my responsibility with the game and with the rest of the golfers,” he adds.

Finally, he was forceful when talking about the police incident of Scottie Scheffler before the start of the second round. “I think it was unfortunate. I don’t know exactly what has happened in the last few hours, but I just hope it gets resolved soon and well,” he emphasizes.
