Terrible news for golf fans has been confirmed this afternoon regarding Tiger Woods. The Californian golfer, who remains a major attraction at any tournament he participates in, has suffered a serious injury that will prevent him from competing in the Masters at Augusta next April, where he had planned to return, and which seriously jeopardises his tournament schedule for this 2025. He himself confirmed it in a note shared on his social media.
“As I began to intensify my training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles tendon, which was found to be ruptured,” revealed the Tiger. “This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken, from the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally invasive repair of the Achilles tendon due to a rupture,” added the Californian.
The medical report signed by the doctor states that “the surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.” Tiger adds in his message his intention to start a new recovery immediately after this unexpected, untimely, and yet another physical setback: “I am now back home and plan to focus on my recovery and rehabilitation, thank you for all the support.”
The left leg, in which Woods has suffered the Achilles tendon rupture, is not the one that was severely damaged in a car accident and required surgery, keeping him convalescent for a long time and seriously hindering his return to competition. But probably the excessive load on the other leg during training may have influenced this injury, which comes as a real blow at the time when the high season of the PGA Tour with the Majors was beginning.
