As is well known, Jon Rahm made his debut at the Masters in 2017 and has played in all editions since then. No one has done better than the Barrika native during this time. And not just because he won last year (there are six other winners during this time: Sergio, Reed, Tiger, Dustin Johnson, Matsuyama and Scheffler). In fact, in the seven editions he has already played, he has a cumulative score of -42, which is by far the best during this time, far ahead of the next on this list, Jordan Spieth, who has a cumulative score of -32, and the two following him, Hideki Matsuyama and Dustin Johnson, both with a cumulative score of -25.

The point is that, for example, Spieth and Johnson missed the cut in 2022 and 2021, respectively, while Rahm has made all the cuts during this time (2017-2023). In addition, D. J. could not play the 2017 edition after falling down some stairs days before the start of the tournament. But everything counts…

In fact, since the Spaniard has been playing the Masters, only three players have made all the cuts. One is him, and the other two are Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Fitzpatrick. The cull in seven editions, as you can see, is brutal.

– Jon Rahm’s cumulative score on the par 4s of Augusta National over the seven editions he has played is +5. Make no mistake: this is a simply impressive record. It has always been said that it is on the par 5s of the Georgia colossus where one gives oneself the option to win the Masters and on these holes Rahm has a cumulative score of -59, but it is on the par 4s where the real difference is made and Jon’s +5 truly marks the difference. On the par 3s his cumulative score is +12.

– The most favourable hole for the Barrika native has been the 2nd, the first par 5 of the course, where he has a cumulative score of -20. On this hole he has already signed three eagles (2nd round of 2018, 1st round of 2020 and 4th round of 2021), so he already has three more than Tiger Woods, who incredibly has never signed an eagle on this hole in his 25 participations. Another crazy fact: Jon has not signed a single bogey on this hole 2. It is the only hole on the course where he has not yet recorded a single bogey.

– There are also holes where Jon has not yet signed a single birdie. Specifically, there are two consecutive ones: holes 5 and 6. And on the 4th he has only made two birdies. This is the most difficult stretch for the Spaniard: on these three holes his historical cumulative score is +11. It is logical that Jon often says that, for him, reaching hole 7 at par is already a small victory.

– Holes 4 and 18 are the ones that have given him the most trouble, with a historical cumulative score of +5 on both. Interestingly, his cumulative score on hole 11, undoubtedly one of the most difficult, is -1… Although his last birdie on the 11th green, the heart of Amen Corner, dates back to the first round of 2019.

– Let’s finally remember that Jon Rahm’s best score in a round is 65 strokes. He has done it twice. The first time, in the third round of 2018, with a bogey-free card. The second time, last year, in the first round, starting with a double bogey on hole 1… Only one player had won the Masters before starting with a double bogey on hole 1 of the first round, it was Sam Snead in the 1952 edition, 72 years ago.
