Six minutes had the world on tenterhooks. Or perhaps not so much. It depends on each person’s reflexes. Six minutes was how long the message from Tiger Woods lasted in the air on his social media before he wrote the necessary clarification.
At 14:43, Eastern Time in the United States, he posted the following tweet:
I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.

“I can’t believe what I’m saying, but just a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week after sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber and doing explosive exercises in the gym. I can’t wait. See you on the golf course.”
Needless to say, the message dropped like a bomb and more than one person had to rub their eyes to see if what they were seeing was real. The key to understanding it all, obviously, is what comes at the end of the message: April 1, 2025. Yes, April 1st, the date when April Fools’ Day is celebrated in the United States. Our December 28th.
Tiger Woods himself wanted to clarify it just six minutes later.
P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess 🙂 https://t.co/H1Y1AOgn2v

“P.S. April Fools. My Achilles is still a mess.”
Tiger Woods’ recoveries from his injuries, whether in the knee or back, have always been almost miraculous, but this was excessive.
Beyond the tension or uncertainty it might create in some unsuspecting people, what Woods’ message reflects is that he maintains his sense of humour despite the adversity of his latest injury. It’s not a bad sign. In the meantime, he also regains some prominence in a week where he has presented the new collection of his clothing brand Sun Day Red. Every little helps.
Aside from the prank, what does seem clear is that Tiger will not be able to play any of the four Majors this year, and we’ll see if his body allows him to make it in time at the end of the year to play the PNC Championship or the Hero World Challenge at best.
