How the multi-million prize fund at the Masters 2026 is distributed

The Masters de Augusta continues to grow financially. The first major of the season will distribute in its 90th edition a total of $22.5 million in prize money, a record figure in the tournament’s history, with $4.5 million allocated to the champion.

That amount equals the most lucrative prize on PGA Tour events and confirms the steady growth of the purse at Augusta National in recent years.

Beyond the symbolism of the green jacket, the champion will leave Augusta with one of the biggest prizes on the calendar, in a tournament where tradition and business coexist like nowhere else.

The top four finishers will exceed one million dollars, with the runner-up pocketing $2.43 million and third $1.53 million. From there, the amounts decline progressively, but they remain very high within the tour.

The increase compared to 2025 is notable. Last year, the tournament distributed $21 million, with $4.2 million for the champion, Rory McIlroy. In just one year, the Masters has increased its purse by $1.5 million and the winner’s prize by $300,000.

Augusta does not change its essence —the green jacket, the Champions Dinner, the history—, but its economic dimension continues to grow.
