The Masters at Augusta announced this Tuesday at noon local time the starting times for the first and second rounds. That is, the tee times for the first major of the year on Thursday and Friday. As could be expected, important groups for Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm, although the Masters is the major that mixes players the most. It does not usually place the top three in the world ranking or the most recent major winners in the same tee time, nor even those who have been in the best form in recent weeks. It’s a mixture.
As for the Spaniards, a big group, as you’d expect, for Jon Rahm. He will share Thursday and Friday with two golfers who are in good form. One of them is Chris Gotterup, a winner this year on the PGA Tour who is making his Masters debut. The other is Ludvig Aberg, not a veteran, although he has already played twice at Augusta with very strong results. Jon will go out in the later groups on Thursday and earlier on Friday.
Sergio García will tee off with Aaron Rai and Jacob Bridgeman, players who on paper are lower-profile, although Bridgeman won this year at a venue as historic as Riviera. They will tee off at 12:27 local time, six hours later in peninsular Spain. Meanwhile, José María Olazábal jugará con Rasmus Neergaard Petersen y Aldrich Potgieter, two of the youngest at this Masters. They will tee off on Thursday morning, in the third group of the day.
Thus, the tee times for the Spaniards in the first two rounds of the Masters are (peninsular Spanish time):
– 14:02: Olazábal, Neergaard Petersen and Potgieter
– 18:27: Sergio, Rai and Bridgeman
– 19:08: Rahm, Gotterup and Aberg
Other notable tee times in the first two rounds of the Masters:
– Cameron Smith, Sam Burns and Jake Knapp
– Dustin Johnson, Shane Lowry and Jason Day
– Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood and Akshay Bhatia
– Bryson DeChambeau, Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele
– Hideki Matusuyama, Collin Morikawa and Russell Henley
– Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young and Mason Howell
– Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose and Brooks Koepka
– Sepp Straka, Ben Griffin and Justin Thomas
– Scottie Scheffler, Robert MacIntyre and Gary Woodland
The group that will open the Masters on Thursday, just after the honorary tee shot by Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson, will be Johnny Keefer and Haotong Li. The best time on Thursday for the Chinese public.
