Jon Rahm will tee off at 13:55 —peninsular Spain time— alongside Shane Lowry, just ten minutes after the attractive pairing of Josele Ballester and Scottie Scheffler. Eugenio Chacarra will open the Spanish participation at 10:15 with Rickie Fowler, while Sam Burns and Ryan Fox will close the tournament at 15:20.
The pairings for the fourth and final round of the 154th Open Championship are now set. The 78 players who made the cut will compete again in pairs this Sunday at Royal Birkdale, from the 08:40 to 15:20, peninsular Spain time —one hour behind in England—. The three Spaniards will have hugely attractive partners: Eugenio Chacarra will play with Rickie Fowler, Josele Ballester with Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm with Shane Lowry.
Rahm and Lowry, a heavyweight pairing
Jon Rahm (-4) will tee off at 13:55 with Shane Lowry (-4). The Barrika golfer will start the final round six shots behind the leader, Sam Burns, and just behind in the tee times another pairing of special interest to Spanish golf.
At 13:45, Josele Ballester (-3) will share the course with Scottie Scheffler (-4). A very high-level pairing for the Castellón player, who will face the final 18 holes at Royal Birkdale seven shots off the lead with a great opportunity to finish the championship with a significant result.
The first of the Spaniards to get underway will be Eugenio Chacarra (+1). The Madrid player will tee off at 10:15 alongside Rickie Fowler (+1). Both will start the day tied and will try to make the most of an early tee time to gain positions before the main contenders for the Claret Jug come into play.
Burns and Fox, in the marquee pairing
The final group at the Open will tee off at 15:20 and will consist of Sam Burns (-10) and Ryan Fox (-8). The American arrives as sole leader with a two-shot advantage after posting a 65 on Saturday, while Fox got into the title fight with an extraordinary 62, a score that equalled the lowest round record in a men’s major. Burns had also carded a 62 during the second round.
Ten minutes earlier Ryan Gerard (-7) and Si Woo Kim (-8) will tee off. At 15:00 it will be the turn of Ludvig Åberg (-6) and the 36-hole leader, Lucas Herbert (-7). Immediately ahead of them will play Jackson Suber (-6) and Bryson DeChambeau (-6), four shots off Burns and still fully involved in the fight.
England’s main hope, Tommy Fleetwood (-5), will tee off at 14:40 with Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (-5). Just before, at 14:30, Xander Schauffele (-4) and Eric Cole (-4) will share a tee time.
McIlroy, Morikawa, Koepka and other notable pairings
Rory McIlroy (-2) will begin his final round at 12:30 alongside Englishman Jordan Smith (-2). Ten minutes earlier another pairing made up entirely of Open winners will take place: Francesco Molinari (-2) and Collin Morikawa (-2).
Also standing out are the pairing between Patrick Reed and Adam Scott at 11:40, as well as Brooks Koepka and Bud Cauley at 11:05. J.J. Spaun and Victor Perez will tee off at 10:35, while Min Woo Lee and Tyrrell Hatton will do so at 09:50.
