Jon Rahm withdraws from the Pinehurst US Open!

Jon Rahm has just announced through his social networks that he will not be able to compete in the US Open that starts this Thursday in Pinehurst. The golfer from Barrika was doubtful for the tournament after an infection in a cut between two toes of a foot, which he has been treating in recent days. Yesterday he did not go through the course and today he did to attend to the media, ruling out playing a few practice holes.

In fact, the Spaniard was wearing a flip-flop on the damaged foot. Now, he has made the tough decision to withdraw from the third major of the season before it starts. “After consulting with several doctors and my team, I have decided that the best for my long-term health is to withdraw from this week’s US Open Championship. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I wish all the participants the best of luck. I want to thank all the staff of the USGA, the volunteers and the Pinehurst community for organising what I am sure will be an amazing championship. I hope to return to action as soon as possible”, Rahm has posted.

This Tuesday, during his visit to the resort facilities hosting the tournament, Rahm was already somewhat pessimistic. “If I don’t think I can win, I don’t know if it’s worth competing”, said the man from Barrika. But he left a possibility open, probably to consult with more specialists about his injury in the afternoon. The feedback must not have been positive, so Jon has decided not to play on Thursday and to focus exclusively on recovering as soon as possible for the challenges ahead, with the LIV Golf tournaments in Nashville and Valderrama… or above all, the The Open Championship.
