The USGA announced on Tuesday the groups and tee times for the first two rounds of the 126th edition of the US Open, which is contested from Thursday to Sunday at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, in New York.
A draw in which the Spaniard Jon Rahm has been handed a real blockbuster with two other major winners. The man from Barrika will share the first two rounds with Justin Rose, the 2013 champion, and with Jordan Spieth, the 2015 winner who also has a Masters de Augusta and an Open Championship to his name.
The Basque golfer, who won the US Open in 2021, will start the tournament playing in the afternoon session, from the 10th tee at 20:09 (Spanish peninsular time). The other three Spaniards will also play in the afternoon. First will be Rocco Repetto, sharing a round with Niklas Norgaard and Sudarshan Yellamaraju (1st tee at 18:30); then David Puig will play with Davis Thompson and Preston Stout (1st tee at 19:14); and immediately after Jon it will be the turn of Ángel Hidalgo, who will share a round with Mateo Pulcini and Spencer Tibbits (10th tee from 20:31).
Beyond the Spaniards, this start to the US Open 2026 brings other genuine blockbuster match-ups. The first to grab the spotlight will be the group formed by Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood (13:52), a trio of huge talent and contenders to fight for the title. Shortly after will come the debut of the world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, accompanied by amateur Mason Howell and J.J. Spaun (14:14). And in the afternoon session the spectacular duel between Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland and Matt Fitzpatrick (19:25) stands out, an explosive mix of power, creativity and major championship experience.
Coming up, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele (19:47) will headline another star group, before Jon Rahm closes the star-studded parade alongside Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose. It’s also worth keeping an eye on Brooks Koepka, Cameron Young and Chris Gotterup (13:30), and the trio of Sam Burns, Tyrrell Hatton and Si Woo Kim (13:41), two groups with enough firepower to liven up the leaderboard from the first stroke.
